Setup & care

Three quiet steps.

A rigid stone surface asks a little of you: lift it with both hands, let air reach it, and it stays at its best.

Set it on its pad 1

Set it on its pad

Place the included pad on a clean, dry surface — beside the sink, or on the floor outside the shower — and center the mat on it.

Water absorbs, then evaporates 2

Water absorbs, then evaporates

Drips and footprints darken the surface as the porous stone draws them in; the moisture then releases to the air as it dries. Drying time varies with water, airflow and humidity.

Lift, dry, refresh 3

Lift, dry, refresh

Lift the mat now and then so both sides dry. Rinse with clean water, and lightly renew the surface with the included refresh pad when absorption slows.

Why stone

A calmer alternative to fabric and plastic.

Fabric & plastic

The usual mat

  • Stays damp long after use
  • Can stay damp and hold odour
  • Bulky, and rarely looks the part
Trivelle stone

The stone alternative

  • Draws water away, then releases it to the air
  • Matte mineral surface, refreshes between uses
  • Rigid stone slats, quiet, low and easy to live with

The material

Diatomite. A quietly remarkable stone.

Diatomite is a soft, naturally porous stone formed from fossilised algae. It draws water away from a surface and releases it back to the room, quietly, without fabric or fans.

Dense

Substantial, stable underfoot.

Matte

A mineral finish that never feels glossy.

Mineral

A diatomite-based stone surface, naturally matte.

Dry

Releases moisture back to the air.

Love this drying rack!

I’ve had several drying rack stones. I love that this one doesn’t have anything on top of it to make it difficult to clean. It looks beautiful on my counter! I did add my old “dorai” dish rack with utensil holder. Doesn’t match but...

Better than a cloth mat.

I like it. I was having trouble with the cloth mats getting moldy & stinky.

Dries fast and saves counter space

This drying mat ended up being more useful than I expected. The stone surface dries water much faster than a regular fabric mat, so it keeps the counter from staying wet and messy. I liked that it felt cleaner and more low maintenance than...

Good Option to Replace a Rug

I have had this stone mat for about a month now. I was tired of the constant mildew battle with rugs in front of the shower and decided to give the stone bath mat a try. So far, so good with no mildew or...

Nice stone shower mat!

This is a nice large stone bath mat with quick drying features. The material has a wicking effect and is good to step onto. It is not quite the same as a fluffy mat, but it is clean and does not pick up any...

Questions

Good to know.

How does a stone mat work?

Each mat is made from diatomite, a naturally porous mineral. Its quick-drying stone surface draws moisture away and helps water evaporate quickly after use, so the mat refreshes between uses instead of staying damp like fabric.

Does it feel cold underfoot?

It feels firm, cool and smooth at first touch — closer to stone tile than to a cushioned fabric mat. Many owners find it refreshing, and it warms toward room temperature as the bathroom does.

Will it slide around?

Each mat ships with a separate anti-slip pad. Place the pad on a clean, dry, level hard floor and center the mat on it — set up this way, it stays put in normal daily use. Check the alignment now and then, and don't use it on wet or uneven flooring.

How do I clean it?

Wipe or rinse the surface with clean water, then let the mat and the floor or counter beneath it dry fully. When absorption slows, lightly renew the surface with the included refresh pad in a ventilated area. Avoid colored liquids, oils, soaps and harsh cleaners.

What sizes are available?

The Kitchen Drying Mat is 60 × 40 cm (24 × 16 in) and the Bath Mat is 60 × 39 cm (23.6 × 15.4 in). Both are about 1 cm thick — slim, low-profile stone sized to sit beside the sink or outside the shower.

What is your return policy?

You may request a return within 30 days of delivery. Change-of-mind returns must be unused, in new, resalable condition, complete, and in the original packaging. For orders under $79 you pay return shipping; for orders of $79 or more we provide a prepaid label. Damaged, defective, or incorrect items are covered at no cost. See our Returns & Refunds page.
